Chapter 359 Are You Hiding Something from Me?

Since he had this thought, Ambrose blurted out, "Dad, | haven't heard anything concrete yet, but it looks like

Alaric's been getting real chummy with Neil lately. I'm worried he might wanna dig up the Storm Family case

from seven years ago." "Alaric's as stubborn as a mule; he won't quit till he's totally crushed. And Neil? That

guy's just as bad, never listens to anyone. If those two start gunning for us, shaking them off won't be a walk in

the park." "Reopen the Storm Family case from seven years ago? Alaric must have a death wish!"

As he said this, Ambrose caught a deadly glint in Stuart's eyes, mixed with a scary darkness.

It was clear as day: if Alaric dared to investigate, he wouldn't cout in one piece.

"Dad, can | ask something?" Ambrose asked, treading carefully, "What's the beef between our Vale Family and

the Storm Family? Why did you go all out seven years ago?" Ambrose genuinely had no clue. Back then, he was

just a pawn, desperate for Stuart's approval, eager to get into the Vale Family, and more importantly, into the

Vale Group.

Back then, Stuart gave him a shot to prove himself, to really test his chops, he sent him overseas to apply for a

job at the Storm Group.

After landing the gig at the Storm Group, he was like a puppet, doing whatever Stuart ordered.

The only curveball in the whole deal was that he initially planned to use Stellan to win Brennan's trust, but ended

up actually falling for Stellan.

The plan was cruising along; the Storm Family went bankrupt, and Brennan was disgraced. He thought that was

the end of it.

That night, he got a call from Stuart, telling him to bring Brennan, who had been bailed out. Ambrose headed to

the Storm Group that night, and just as he was about to hit the rooftop, he found out Brennan was already dead.

He had no clue what went down on that rooftop, so deep down, he always felt uneasy about Brennan's death. He

never meant for Brennan to die.

To be honest, even though Brennan initially opposed him being with Stellan, he later treated him pretty well after

seeing his work skills.

At that time, he even wished he wasn't part of the Vale Family, so he could really marry Stellan and take over the

Storm Group, living the high life. What a shame.

"Don't ask questions you shouldn't!" Stuart snapped at Ambrose's question. "The more you know, the quicker

you die."

"Yeah, my bad, Dad. Don't be mad. | won't ask again." Ambrose quickly admitted his mistake.

It was clear he wasn't getting any info from Stuart, so for his own safety, he decided to drop it.

Neil now had sinfo compiled by Alaric, and he had also added sdetails based on what he had dug up

over the past few days.

Neil said, "So, we've got Derek's testimony now, confirming that Ambrose, who had already quit, showed up at

the Storm Group the night Brennan died. I've also chatted with sof the Storm Group employees and dug

deep into the investigations."

"They all said the daily food safety was super tight, and that sketchy batch of products was definitely fishy. With

Denny's testimony too, | think we can push to reopen the case. It should be enough."

"Denny's one of Ambrose's right-hand guys. Ambrose trusted him enough to involve him in something as heavy

as offing Todd. Neil, how'd you get him to spill the beans?" Alaric was genuinely impressed.

"There are always ways to make people talk," Neil said with a sly grin, "It's top secret; can't share."

"Alright, | won't dig," Alaric said, "Let's get that case reopened."

"Cool," Neil said, "Let's file it and wait for the green light."

"Honestly, once it's approved, | owe you a big drink, Neil. No, scratch that, several drinks. | don't even know how

to thank you," Alaric said.

Neil replied, "Those words are disrespecting my duty. I'm not doing this for you."

"I know," Alaric said, "But even so, | still want to thank you."

When Stellan cback, she saw Alaric and Neil deep in conversation.

"Neil," Stellan greeted politely.

"Stellan, you're back," Neil said, jumping up quickly, "I gotta run, got sstuff to handle."

Stellan suggested, "It's dinner time, Neil. Why are you leaving? Stay and eat with us."

"Thank you though, | really have something to do. I'll take a rain check on dinner," Neil said, then bolted out.

After Neil left, Stellan looked at Alaric with a knowing gaze. Alaric noticed her look and asked, "Why are you

looking atlike that?"

"You should be asking yourself," Stellan said bluntly, "You've been meeting with Neil almost every day lately. Be

straight with me, are you hiding something from me?"

Alaric explained, "I told you, we just get along well and becfriends."

Stellan wasn't buying it. "Just friends? Meeting every other day? And Neil's job should keep him swamped. How

does he find tto see you and chat? Does that make sense?"

Just as Alaric was about to brush it off, Stellan asked seriously, "Don't try to fool me. If you don't tellthe

truth, I'll go find Neil."

Alaric felt truly awkward and realized he had been careless. He should have had Neil leave before Stellan got

back.

Given how often they had been meeting recently, Stellan, being no fool, naturally noticed something.

"Alaric, are you investigating the Storm Family case behind my back?" Stellan guessed from his reluctance to

speak.

"Am | right?" Stellan could tell from his expression. Knowing this, she felt a mix of emotions-touched, worried,

and angry.

Stellan called out, "Alaric, how many times do | have to tell you? You need to wait until you're fully recovered

before doing anything. Right now, you're supposed to be recuperating. Besides that, | don't want you doing

anything else!"
